Does coach like you or "like" like you?

How to tell the difference between legitimate recruiting interest versus passing interest can save you time, money and sanity.

It’s a cool feeling when a college coach follows you on X.

“I’m noticed!”

“I’m getting recruited!”

These are the initial feelings, but really, it’s just an overall sense of validation for your hard work. Plus, it feels nice having coaches with cool logos - no matter the division level - telling you how good you are and how much better you could be with them.

But, getting followed or getting a cursory DM on X is lightyears away from a tangible offer and committing to a school. Parents at this juncture in the recruiting cycle are starring down $1,000s of dollars worth of summer camps, traveling and time off work to tour their child around the country in a weird pseudo-beauty pageant ritual. Every coach says they like you but that you need to come to their camp before they offer you something.

You can’t be in more than one place at a time, so what do you do?
